In The Flesh

In The Flesh is a small project that I completed as part of the Unreal Fellowship: Games, taught by Epic Games, a crash course in Unreal Engine that enabled selected Fellows to learn how to use Unreal for game production.

The game is a top-down beat-’em-up, in which the objective is to reach the end of the level while defeating or avoiding the enemies. However, the player character only has a few HP, and when you die… you go on to possess the enemy that defeated you, and you continue as them!

I created In The Flesh while learning Unreal Engine, in about two weeks. Other than the 3D assets and the audio, all of the game was created by me, including design, UI, programming with Blueprints, and every other element. The scope allowed me to complete the game while also attending the classes in the Fellowship and learning how to leverage as many parts of the Unreal Engine as possible.

The game was showcased at Unreal Fest 2024 in Seattle, along with other projects produced during the Fellowship.

  • Designed, programmed, built and tested the game in two weeks, on my own
  • Learned how to use Unreal Engine, including animation, Blueprints, input, lighting, materials, and many other systems
